The WordMasters Challenge™ is a vocabulary competition based on completing analogies. Your students will not only improve their vocabulary skills but also develop verbal reasoning and higher-order thinking skills, boost reading comprehension, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
The WordMasters Challenge™ is offered in two divisions at each grade level (grades 3-8). The Blue Division is suitable for students of average to above-average reading and reasoning abilities. The Gold Division is for students who have superior language skills such as those in Gifted and Talented programs.
At each grade level, the competition consists of three 20-minute analogy-solving meets which are held at your school -- typically in December, February and April. Prior to each meet, students are provided a list of 25 challenging vocabulary words customized by grade and competition level.
After you administer and score the analogy test at your school, you enter the scores into your account on our website. Your team score is automatically calculated by summing the top ten individual scores.
After each meet, we publish a summary of results and announce the team and student leaders for each grade level and division. A year-end report highlights the cumulative winners and each team receives one champion medal and ten recognition certificates.
